New Look AW13 Press Day

I love going to New Look press days, I really do - they never fail to impress. However, this one for AW13 really did split my opinion on the collection. New Look usually display their garments in their press office in NL HQ over two floors and this season, I felt downstairs was some what disappointing! It comprised of the party dresses, knitwear and underwear with a splash of their forever amazing accessories as you can see in the pictures above. I felt like the garments downstairs was - dare I say it - some what, tacky? I have always been so impressed by quality and the offering by New Look in previous seasons considering they are a fast fashion, lower priced retailer and I felt like what I was showed downstairs didn't push the boundaries on that, as I have seen them do previously! Obviously there were a few items downstairs that really got me excited like the heeled sandals with the gold plating, the statement jewellery and the cut out boots. The boots I am talking Topshop standards at half the price. They were literally amazing! I have seen the white ones in stores already, which you can shop here. There were so many variations of them too! Heeled, flatforms, classic chelsea boots with the cut out at either side - everything! These are definitely going to be a winner for New Look in the coming season!

Moving upstairs lifted my spirits for AW13; the upstairs oozed what I was talking about how they had missed those game changers downstairs. Everything popped out at me; the clothes, the bags, the shoes, the jewellery! They had definite clear trends upstairs in the way of monochrome checks and cobalt blues to pleather and tartan. That trouser suit has gone straight to the top of my wishlist for AW13!! I guess you could say the upstairs was more suited to my taste in style, clean cut and sophisticated!

Have you ever been to a press day and been split on opinion by their offering? What are your favourite AW13 trends?
